Afternoon tea at Le Meridien: King Edward hotel

Last minute, my friend and I decided to go to Le Meridien: King Edward or known as the King Eddy to chowhound-ers for afternoon tea. It was such a coincidence that his sister also happened to be having tea there! What a small world.

This isn’t my first time to the King Eddy. I was here last year with Mr.S and Duffy in the Summer. I just didn’t make a note of it.

Here is our selection of goodies from savory to sweet. OK this time for sure, they did NOT tell us what they were. Luckily, my friend was open to trying the sandwiches out first and telling me what they were. The best was the salmon, cream cheese and avocado! The egg salad was pretty good too to my surprise. (I hate egg salad sammies).

Scones are scones all around. Some places just provide better spreads (e.g. The Four Seasons).

And I picked at my desserts but nothing stood out. Mind you, I barely eat desserts because I’m pretty full after the scone!

I had Jasmine tea. Yum! Speaking of – if you buy loose leaf Jasmine Butterfly at David’s tea – it will cost you $40/100 grams.

Next post will be about my new hobby 🙂

  1. a lot of bloggers seem to be doing this. i would too but i don’t know anywhere in vegas where this kind of eatery is available. hahh…. it looks so classy and fun though.

  2. Looks great! I haven’t gone tea in ages and this post is pulling at my heart strings! Omg I’m so excited for your Amsterdam trip, I think you’re one of the few people I know (even if it’s not in “real life”) that travels so much! Love reading your travel posts!!! Hope you’re doing well and your Duffy too and Mr.S too lol

P.s hows the weather in toronto? It’s still rainy vancity here!

  3. Wow! That afternoon tea looks amazing. Just looking at it is making me hungry. My mum had afternoon tea in the Waldorf Hilton Hotel in London and her photographs looked very similar to this.

By the way, I love the design of your website. 🙂

  4. I just realized I totally forgot to read this. I get a text about it, then I forget to check again.

Looks pretty good! Who did you go with? Chris?

And I know what you mean about spreads. So far, I still really like the Royal York one, but I haven’t tried many.

    1. I went with Norm!
I’ll be going to tea in NL and I booked the windsor arms for June.
Did you book it yet? It expires in August!

  5. when you mentioned salmon, cream cheese and avocado, egg salad and scones–it just made me starve to death even more.. lol I love those pictures too.. they look pretty good and is this n Vegas?

  6. Yum, those look tasty! I’m not really into tea, but a salmon sandwich sounds really good. That’s something I would like 🙂

  7. That all looks so delicious! I love salmon, cream cheese, and avocado so the combination sounds amazing! I’ve never tried jasmine tea before…I love that little teacup, super cute 🙂

  8. you’re right. it’s probably going to be really emotional! i actually finished the books already. i thought there would be more peeta in there but i was wrong! but the ending was good though :] you should read it 😀

  9. Re: I know what you mean about trying to explain to your friends that tea is often hit and miss, even with good places! And I do understand where they’re coming from, in their minds they could be spending this 35$ on steak etc. Thankfully the bf doesn’t mind going with me and one other friend!

I don’t have Vietnamese heritage in me =P Cantonese through and through haha though I’ve been mistaken for having all sorts of heritages before. I know what you mean about eating healthy, I want my teenage body back sometimes or at least the metabolism! As for the fruit candy, I’ve tried finding substitutes but nothing comes close so whenever we go eat at the restaurant the bf grabs a handful for me, unabashed LOL I’d be too embarrassed to do it =P Hope you’re doing well!!!

  10. Everything looks so pretty and cute! I wouldn’t want to eat it, I just would want to look at it! Haha, who am I kidding – I would eat it.

I think the best way to try new food is to not know what it is until afterwards. At least for me. I’m a pretty picky eater, so I’m more likely to try something if I don’t know what it is. 😛

Mmm, there’s always room for dessert! 😉

  11. Wow!! I love snack shops. Especially those “mini” cute snacks. Your photo looks so delicious!! :9 The sandwiches looks and sounds so fancy and yummy! I looove eating snacks with hot tea. Makes the snacks more moist and yummy. I love jasmine tea. <3
